Real-Time Systems Seminar (NSS) [Winter 2026]

The seminar covers selected topics from the field of real-time systems based on current scientific literature. Possible topics include real-time scheduling algorithms, timing analysis, embedded and cyber-physical systems, multicore real-time systems, real-time communication networks, safety-critical applications, verification and validation techniques, and emerging trends in real-time computing.

Module description

Paper List (preliminary)

Each participant will work with one of the following papers that was recently published at a major conference of the real-time community.

Organization

Workflow

  • get one of the place via the faculty’s central allocation system, you will then be enrolled in this seminar’s Moodle course
  • get a seminar topic to work on (understand paper; find, judge and summarize related work)
  • 1st common meetings where each participant gives a very brief overview over the assigned topic (10 Minutes; without any aids, i.e., no slides, no notes in hand)
    • about three weeks after paper selection starts
    • followed by an overview over the remaining seminar proceeding
  • individual meeting/s with supervisor during the semester (at least one of which will be mandatory)
  • deliverables at the end of the lecture period: survey on related work (text document) and presentation (slides and / or poster)
  • conference day (aka seminar presentation day, 2nd common meeting) in the lecture-free period

Meeting Schedule (tentative)

  • The slot for common meetings is Tuesday 2:15pm to 3:45pm, room MC 1/31
  • all dates are given as YYYY-MM-DD (ISO 8601)
  • 2026-08-01: faculty-central allocation starts (you cannot enroll directly with the DNet group!)
  • 2026-10-01: Participants will be enrolled into the Moodle course (no self-enrollment here either!)
  • 2026-10-05 to 2026-04-16: Paper selection by students: in Moodle, FCFS!
  • 2026-10-27: 1st common meeting: Kickoff and Overview presentations
  • 2026-10-28: deadline to register in FlexNow (mandatory)
  • 2026-10-29 to 2026-11-08: Book slot for individual meeting, FCFS!
  • 2026-11-23 to 2026-12-04 (tentative): Individual in-person meetings
  • 2027-02-07: Submission of final deliverables
  • lecture-free period: 2nd common meeting: Conference Day (one full day, TBD)
