Input/output systems usually provide some sort of service that is limited by constrained resource availability (e.g., computation, data forwarding, energy supply). On the other hand, it is often imperative that service is provided within a timely fashion. The lecture “Scheduling Theory” will present modeling of resources and demand as well as matching the demand to the available resource – known as scheduling.
